Tsavo War Museum Development

The Background.
The war wars one and two defined the social cultural trajectory of Africa and East Africa in particular. Many indigenous communities were mobilised and conscripted to a wars they understood not nor had no defined interest in by their various colonial master starting with the WW1 in Taveta and WW1 mostly fought on the northern Kenya Frontiers. At the height of the WW1 East African campaign, 90% of the communities were contributing to the war effort in one way or another.

The Challenge
Despite and inspite the great effort and sacrifice by the indigenous communities to the great war efforts their participation and contribution has remained largely undocumented and the war dead unremembered. This despite the numerous war cemeteries doting the African landscape.

The Proposal

To research, document and mainstream the gallant efforts of the indigenous communities by commemorating the unremembered war dead, while mobilising resources for the development of a War & Cultural Museum to showcase their efforts, while narrating their story, the museum is proposed to have a Wall of Sacrifice where names of the war participants will be listed and commemorated annually

The Expected Outcome
A memorial and commemoration standard inclusive of the UNREMEBERED capturing their war contribution and efforts for posterity
