• Maria is a proven leader in Human Resources, with close to 20 years of progressive experience across various industries including Telecommunications, Banking, Pharmaceuticals, FMCGs and the Development world. She most recently worked in Telecommunications as the HR Director for Safaricom, responsible for the people agenda of about 5,000 employees.
• A year before, she was responsible for HR at Vodafone Group Enterprise Operations across Vodafone’s Global offices in 22 markets with ~1,400 employees, majority in Europe, closely followed by Asia, America, and Africa.
• She has held senior leadership roles in both global and local institutions including Ecobank Groupe in Togo, Novartis in Switzerland and Morocco, Mumias Sugar, Coca-Cola East & Central Africa and World Vision International. Maria chairs the Human Resources Management Professionals Examination Board (HRMPEB) where she provides direction and oversight for all matters related to the professionalization of Human Resources in Kenya.
• She holds a global perspective enriched with local experience in the practice of organization effectiveness, change management, reward, talent management, and leadership development, among others. Maria holds a Masters from the University of Oxford/HEC Paris in Coaching and Consulting for Change, a Bachelor of Education degree from Kenyatta University (KE), and is a qualified Executive Coach from the Academy of Executive Coaching (UK). She also possesses a Higher Diploma in HR Management from the Institute of Human Resource Management.
